Horticulture Dept provides 2640 fruit plants on 90% subsidy in Shopian

Director Horticulture Kashmir, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat today visited District Pulwama and Shopian in connection with monitoring of developmental activities taken up by the Department of Horticulture under various schemes. Director Horticulture launched the distribution of various fruit plants in Shadab Karew area of Zawoora Shopian, according to a statement received by Ziraat Times.

On the occasion, the Director distributed 2640 fruit palnts of apricot, plum, apple and cherry among 660 households on 90% subsidy in the function which was organized by Chief Horticulture Officer Shopian.

Chief Horticulture officer was directed to ensure the awareness among growers through different mediums related to benefits under the newly launched scheme viz Operation Greens-Top to Total and PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PM FME) as a part of Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan and registration process in this regard.

On the occasion Director Horticulture emphasized that spraying of Horticulture Mineral Oil (HMO) and pesticides should strictly as per the recommendations of SKUAST Kashmir/Department of Horticulture. He also informed that orchardists should contact the Chief Horticulture Officers/Horticulture Development Officers for guidance regarding spraying of various pesticides including HMO as per the advisory issued by the Department of Horticulture.

Later on, Director Horticulture reviewed the progress made by the Chief Horticulture Officer Shopian/Pulwama during the current financial year.
