Srinagar: Jammu & Kashmir’s prominent hotelier and businessman Mushtaq Ahmed Chaya has been re-elected as chairman of J&K Hoteliers Club at its its annual general meeting held on Monday.
On the occasion, Riyaz Ahmad Shahdad was elected as senior vice chairman, Amit Amla as junior vice chairman, Tariq Rashid Ghani as secretary general, Naseer Ahmad Khan as joint general secretary and Musadiq Shah as treasurer.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Chaya said that Kashmir’s hotel industry was in distress as the lease period of their land was not being extended despite assurances by the J&K administration from time to time.
On the occasion, J&K Hoteliers Club (J&KHC) urged the Lt Governor administration to extend the lease of the hoteliers at various tourist resorts so that they are able to revive their long-paused business without further hindrances.
He expressed dismay that while tourist arrivals had picked up in places like Gulmarg owing to an early snowfall there, hoteliers were facing immense harassment as their properties were being served notices by the administration labelling the properties as ‘illegal occupants’.
