Entrepreneurs must learn from setbacks, support one another

By Khalid Zahgeer (Entrepreneur, Industrial Estate Zakura)

Entrepreneurs facing failure, financial difficulties or an uncertain business environment should not allow present setbacks to determine their future, says entrepreneur Khalid Zahgeer.

In his message to the business community, Zahgeer emphasises resilience, adaptability and collective support, arguing that failure is not the end of an entrepreneurial journey but an opportunity to learn, rebuild and find new ways forward.

Entrepreneurship, he says, is rarely a smooth journey. Unfavourable circumstances, unrecognised efforts and difficult administrative procedures can test patience and weaken even the strongest determination. Such challenges may lead entrepreneurs to question their decisions and whether continuing is worth the struggle.

However, Zahgeer argues, these are precisely the moments when the real spirit of entrepreneurship is tested.

A successful entrepreneur, he says, is not someone who never fails but someone who refuses to let failure become the final chapter of their story. Entrepreneurs learn, adapt and rebuild, turning setbacks into experience and challenges into opportunities for themselves and others.

He stresses that a discouraging business environment should not be allowed to destroy confidence or weaken the determination to innovate. When efforts fail to produce the expected results, entrepreneurs should reflect on their experiences, reassess their strategies and begin again with greater knowledge and resilience.

Zahgeer also highlights the wider economic and social significance of entrepreneurship, noting that enterprises create opportunities for families, employees, suppliers and communities.

He calls for greater solidarity among entrepreneurs through the sharing of experiences, support for new ideas and encouragement for those facing difficulties. Disappointment, he argues, should not isolate entrepreneurs when collective strength can help them navigate challenging circumstances.

While acknowledging that entrepreneurs cannot always control the conditions in which they operate, Zahgeer says they can continue strengthening their capabilities, demanding a more supportive business environment and creating opportunities wherever possible.

His message to those feeling exhausted or uncertain is to pause when necessary, reconsider strategies where required, but not abandon their aspirations merely because the present is difficult.

Entrepreneurs, he says, should recognise the continuing value of their experience, the potential of their ideas and the significance of their efforts.

Ultimately, Zahgeer argues, entrepreneurship is not simply about achieving success once. It is about having the courage to rise after setbacks, the vision to build something better and the determination to keep moving forward despite uncertainty.

The business environment may test the entrepreneurial spirit, he concludes, but it should not be allowed to extinguish the vision that drives people to create, innovate and persevere.
