Srinagar: Prof Ashiq Pandit, Head of the Division of Fruit Science at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K), joined as Dean, Faculty of Horticulture, on Tuesday following the culmination of the selection process.
A well-known fruit scientist, Prof Pandit was appointed to the position after a rigorous selection process.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai, Director Extension Raihana Habib Kanth, Director Research, and Dean Students’ Welfare Prof Javed Mughal were among those present at the welcome ceremony.
Prof Pandit’s appointment drew congratulatory messages from colleagues, former university officials, students and well-wishers, who described his elevation as recognition of his academic contributions and professional dedication.
Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, former Director of the Horticulture Department, congratulated Prof Pandit and described the development as an appreciable move.
Krishan Jindal, former Director Research at the University of Horticulture and Forestry, Solan, also congratulated Prof Pandit, expressing confidence that he would excel in his new assignment.
Syed Javid Andrabi described Prof Pandit as a deserving recipient of the prestigious position, citing his dedication, courage, hard work and advanced training. He also referred to Prof Pandit’s academic background and wished him success in his future responsibilities.
Insha Majid Shah extended her heartfelt congratulations, saying Prof Pandit deserved the recognition and wishing him continued success and further achievements.
Maharaj Krishan Ganjoo has also congratulated Prof Pandit, expressing pride in his achievement and conveying his blessings.
Amit Saraf, a former colleague, has also congratulated Mr Pandit on his elevation as Dean, Horticulture.
