Srinagar, October 8: The Jammu & Kashmir Branch of the Northern India Regional Council (NIRC) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) organised an industrial visit for Chartered Accountancy students at the Jammu & Kashmir Milk Producers Cooperative Limited (JKMPCL) milk plant in Srinagar on October 8.

The visit brought together a large number of CA students from the Kashmir Valley, providing them practical exposure to industrial operations, supply chain management and manufacturing processes in the dairy sector.

CA Amit Gupta, Chairman, J&K Branch of NIRC of ICAI, said such industrial visits were an integral part of the branch’s efforts to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical exposure.

The visit was coordinated by Shehnawaz Khan and was aimed at giving students an understanding of real-world business and industrial operations. The branch said the initiative was also part of its efforts to expand student activities across Jammu & Kashmir and provide students in the Valley access to practical learning opportunities.

During the visit, Hamid, Plant In-charge, JKMPCL Srinagar, briefed the students on the functioning of the dairy cooperative, including milk procurement, processing and manufacturing of dairy products under its “Snowcap” brand.

The students were taken through various stages of the dairy value chain and were given insights into milk procurement systems, supply chain management, quality control, manufacturing processes, distribution and marketing operations.

The visit also covered the processing of products including milk, ghee, paneer and curd, besides highlighting the importance of hygiene, quality assurance and operational efficiency in the food and dairy industry.

The Managing Committee of the J&K Branch comprises CA Amit Gupta, Chairman; CA Jatin Malhotra, Vice-Chairman; CA Sanchit Aggarwal, Secretary; CA Ayush Mahajan, Treasurer; CA Sourav Pargal, Immediate Past Chairman; and CA Ayush Sawhney, Executive Committee Member.

The branch said it would continue organising practical learning and industry-interaction programmes for CA students as part of its efforts towards capacity building and professional development, and plans to organise more such visits in the future.
