FFFAI, CCIK sign MoU to strengthen export logistics in J&K

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 29: The Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations in India (FFFAI) and the Chamber of Commerce & Industries Kashmir (CCIK) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC), Srinagar, aimed at strengthening logistics and export facilitation in Jammu & Kashmir.

The agreement is intended to improve access to customs-related facilitation and logistics support for exporters within the Union Territory, potentially reducing the need to route consignments through other states for completing export formalities, according to the organisations.

Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, attended the MoU signing ceremony as chief guest.

Under the proposed initiative, FFFAI plans to establish facilitation counters in Srinagar and Anantnag to assist exporters with customs clearance and related logistics services.

CCIK also called for an additional facilitation counter in Baramulla to serve exporters from North Kashmir.

The organisations said the initiative is expected to benefit exporters associated with horticulture, agriculture, floriculture and handicrafts by helping reduce transportation costs and time involved in completing export-related procedures.

The collaboration is also aimed at improving logistics connectivity and facilitating greater access for Jammu & Kashmir exporters to national and international markets.

CCIK President Tariq Ghani and senior office-bearers and executive members of the chamber attended the ceremony.

FFFAI Chairman Amit Kamat led the federation’s delegation, which included senior office-bearers, its immediate past president, joint secretary and other members.

The two organisations said the partnership would focus on creating a more facilitative business environment for exporters and strengthening the region’s export and logistics infrastructure.

At the conclusion of the meeting, FFFAI presented an Award of Appreciation to CCIK President Tariq Ghani, recognising his contribution to trade, logistics and export facilitation in Jammu & Kashmir and his role in promoting collaboration between the two organisations.
