Bill seeks repeal of Self Reliant Cooperative Act, 1999 and transitional arrangements for cooperatives
Srinagar, September 21: Minister for Cooperatives Javid Ahmad Dar on Monday introduced a Bill in the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly seeking to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Societies Act, 1989, repeal the Jammu and Kashmir Self Reliant Cooperative Act, 1999, and provide transitional arrangements for self-reliant cooperatives.
The legislation, titled “A Bill to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Societies Act, 1989, to repeal the Jammu and Kashmir Self Reliant Cooperative Act, 1999 and to provide transitional arrangement of self-reliant cooperatives under the Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Societies Act, 1989 and for matters connected or incidental thereto,” has been designated as Legislative Assembly Bill No. 9 of 2026.
The Bill had already been published in an extraordinary issue of the Official Gazette.
The legislation was introduced during the ongoing Autumn Session of the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
