NEW DELHI, September 18: Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday attended a two-day conference on “Financing India’s Journey towards Viksit Bharat”, organised by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, in New Delhi.

The conference is focusing on Centre-State fiscal cooperation, financing challenges and policy pathways for sustainable and inclusive economic growth as India works towards the goal of Viksit Bharat.

Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman attended the inaugural session of the conference of State Finance Ministers and Finance Secretaries of States and Union Territories with Legislature.

Chief Ministers, Deputy Chief Ministers, Finance Ministers and senior representatives from several States and Union Territories are participating in the two-day conference.

The deliberations are examining financing challenges and policy priorities shaping India’s development trajectory, while seeking greater policy complementarity between the Centre and States through academic analysis and practical policy perspectives.

For Jammu & Kashmir, the discussions are also providing an opportunity to explore financial pathways for strengthening macroeconomic growth, agricultural transformation and renewable energy, with a focus on sustainable and inclusive development.

The conference is intended to facilitate discussions on policy and financing mechanisms that can support the development priorities of States and Union Territories while contributing to India’s broader economic growth objectives.
