Minister directs officials to strengthen mandi infrastructure, improve facilities for growers, traders and labourers
SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 15: Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Cooperative and Election Department, Javid Ahmad Dar, on Tuesday assured representatives of Fruit Mandi Associations from Kashmir Division that their genuine concerns would be examined and resolved on priority.
The Minister gave the assurance during an interaction with representatives of fruit mandi associations at the Civil Secretariat here, where issues concerning the functioning of fruit mandis and strengthening of horticulture market infrastructure were discussed.
Infrastructure, facilities for stakeholders discussed
During the meeting, representatives apprised the Minister of various issues affecting the functioning of fruit mandis and highlighted the need to strengthen basic infrastructure and improve essential facilities for fruit growers, traders and labourers associated with the horticulture sector.
Javid Dar directed the concerned officers to maintain close coordination with the mandi associations and take necessary measures to address their issues in a time-bound manner.
He stressed the need to identify infrastructure gaps, address operational bottlenecks and ensure timely execution of necessary improvement works to facilitate smooth trade operations and improve working conditions for all stakeholders.
Government committed to strengthening horticulture markets
The Minister said the government was committed to creating a conducive and efficient working environment in fruit mandis, which play a vital role in facilitating horticulture trade and supporting the livelihoods of thousands of growers, traders and workers.
Highlighting the importance of horticulture to Jammu & Kashmir’s economy, he underscored the need for sustained efforts to strengthen market infrastructure, improve trade facilitation and safeguard the interests of fruit growers and other stakeholders.
He also emphasised the importance of regular interaction with Fruit Mandi Associations to ensure that their concerns are promptly brought to the notice of the concerned authorities and resolved effectively.

The meeting was attended by Director Horticulture Marketing and Planning Ghulam Jeelani Zargar, Managing Director JKHPMC Mohammad Farooq Dar, Director Horticulture Kashmir Vikas Anand, presidents of Fruit Mandi Associations from Kashmir Division and other senior officers.
