Jammu, July 14: The Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Department, Jammu on Tuesday organised a one-day training programme for Master Trainers on the AI-enabled features of the Digital Crop Survey (DCS) application to strengthen implementation of the Kharif 2026 crop survey across the Jammu division.
The programme, held at Baba Jitto Kisan Kendra, Talab Tillo, was inaugurated by Director Agriculture Jammu Anil Gupta and focused on equipping Master Trainers with the skills required to train field-level survey teams for the digital crop survey.
Technical sessions were conducted by Ifrat Sheikh and Tanya from the Central Project Management Unit (CPMU), AgriStack, New Delhi. The sessions included a walkthrough of the updated DCS application, demonstrations of newly integrated artificial intelligence features in the Surveyor App, practical use of AI during field surveys and an interactive question-and-answer session.
Addressing the participants, Director Agriculture Anil Gupta said the Digital Crop Survey has become an important initiative for creating a reliable and transparent agricultural database to support evidence-based planning and timely delivery of farmer-centric services.
He said the integration of artificial intelligence into the DCS application would enhance the accuracy, efficiency and credibility of crop survey data by reducing manual errors and enabling faster field verification.
Gupta stressed that the success of the Digital Crop Survey depends on the preparedness of Master Trainers, who will further train field functionaries across all districts. He urged participants to thoroughly understand the AI-enabled features of the application and ensure uniform implementation of the survey throughout the Jammu division.
He also called for close coordination among all stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of the Digital Crop Survey for the Kharif 2026 season.
The programme concluded with an interactive session during which participants shared feedback and sought clarifications on the updated application.
Among those present were Divisional Nodal Officer (DCS) Jammu and SMS (RL) Krishan Kant, Deputy Director Trainings Karuna Nidhi, senior officers from the Farmers Training Centre and officials from the DCS Section of the Directorate of Agriculture Jammu.
Around 110 participants from the Agriculture, Revenue and Horticulture Departments attended the training programme.
