PM’s Special Message Distributed to Amarnath Pilgrims at Nunwan, Baltal Base Camps
Srinagar, July 3: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Friday distributed pamphlets carrying a special message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to pilgrims undertaking the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra at the Nunwan and Baltal base camps.
In his message, the Prime Minister extended greetings and best wishes to devotees, describing the pilgrimage as an enduring symbol of India’s spiritual heritage, cultural unity and the spirit of selfless service.
He said undertaking the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra is a matter of great fortune and a deeply spiritual experience. Referring to the pilgrimage’s commencement on the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima, Modi said devotees from across the country travel to seek the blessings of Baba Barfani with unwavering faith.
The Prime Minister observed that the annual yatra has become a living expression of India’s unity in diversity by bringing together pilgrims from different regions, languages and traditions. He said the pilgrimage reflects the enduring strength of Sanatan culture and reinforces the country’s spiritual and cultural bonds.
Modi also commended the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board and the Jammu and Kashmir administration for the arrangements made for the pilgrimage. He acknowledged the contribution of the Indian Army, Central Armed Police Forces, Jammu and Kashmir Police, disaster response agencies, healthcare professionals, administrative officials, sanitation workers and other personnel engaged in ensuring the smooth and safe conduct of the yatra.
The Prime Minister also appreciated the hospitality extended by the people of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly local residents and organisations running community kitchens (langars) and service camps for pilgrims along the yatra routes. He described the tradition of selfless service as a reflection of India’s civilisational values.
In his message, Modi appealed to pilgrims to make the yatra a model of responsible citizenship by observing five pledges during the pilgrimage. These include maintaining cleanliness along the pilgrimage route, following all safety advisories issued by the administration, supporting local livelihoods by purchasing locally made products under the “Vocal for Local” initiative, promoting environmental conservation by participating in the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, and contributing to nation-building through the spirit of “Nation First.”
Expressing confidence that the 2026 Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra would strengthen the values of faith, national unity and selfless service, the Prime Minister wished all devotees a safe, peaceful and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage.
According to the administration, pilgrims welcomed the Prime Minister’s message and described it as a thoughtful gesture that strengthened their spiritual resolve and enthusiasm for undertaking the annual pilgrimage.
