Ziraat Times News Desk

Srinagar, June 16: In a move aimed at enhancing disaster preparedness and response capabilities in Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Campus of Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Jammu and Kashmir State Disaster Response Force.

The collaboration seeks to combine the academic expertise of RRU with the operational experience of JKSDRF to strengthen training, research, and capacity-building initiatives in the field of disaster management across the Union Territory.

Under the agreement, the two institutions will jointly develop specialised training programmes for SDRF personnel, introduce jointly certified academic and training courses, and support the strengthening of disaster management training centres in the region.

The MoU also provides for the organisation of workshops, seminars, lectures and short-term training programmes aimed at promoting knowledge sharing and professional development in disaster response and management.

In addition, the partnership will facilitate joint research projects and the exchange of faculty members, academic resources and scholarly information to encourage innovation and improve disaster management practices.

The agreement was signed at the office of A.G. Mir, Director General of Police and Commandant General, Home Guards, Civil Defence and SDRF, J&K, in Srinagar.

Officials said the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to building a more resilient Jammu and Kashmir through improved preparedness, skilled manpower and research-driven solutions. They expressed confidence that the partnership would contribute significantly to strengthening disaster response mechanisms and enhancing community safety across the Union Territory.
