Pesticide dealers of Kashmir raise business issues with Horti Dept

Srinagar: A business delegation dealing with agro-chemicals in Kashmir division raised and discussed several issues with the Horticulture Department today.

According to a press statement by the Horticulture Department, a deputation of Pesticide Dealers, including Syed Mohammad Yousuf, President Pesticide Dealers Association Anantnag, Gulzar Ahmad Magrey, President Pulwama, Mohammad Yousuf Niako, District President Kulgam and Haji Rafiq Khuram, President Baramulla/Kupwara/Bandipora today met Director Horticulture Kashmir Ajaz Ahmad Bhat and discussed various problems being faced by the pesticide sector in Kashmir.

“The Association appraised that the results of the samples drawn at the premises of Distributors, which usually are received after six months, should be expedited and it should be ensured that result must be known in shortest possible time”, the statement said.

The business delegation further said thag at present only 20 radicles are analyzed in the State against 60 radicles. They also called for the capacity of analysis to be enhanced to sixty radicals.


Director Horticulture advised the pesticide dealers to sell only those products which are recommended in the spray schedule and ensure that no unscrupulous elements take undue advantage of the monitoring and oversight systems.

The Association assured Director Horticulture that the association shall work its best to advice its members to abide by rules, laws and regulations governing the stocking on sale of pesticides.


Director Horticulture informed the Association that the Principal Secretary, Horticulture Department has already announced to establish two Pesticide Laboratories in North & South Kashmir for strengthening the testing of pesticides so as to ensure that only quality pesticide are available to orchardists.
