J&K Tourism Forum urges tourism promotion initiatives across country, Southeast Asia

Srinagar | The Jammu Kashmir Tourism and Allied Businesses Forum on Thursday held a meeting with the Director Tourism, Kashmir at Radisson Collection & Spa, Riverfront, to discuss key issues and strategies for strengthening tourism in the Valley.

During the meeting, the Forum welcomed the newly appointed Director Tourism, Kashmir and extended best wishes for his tenure, expressing confidence that tourism in the region would witness further growth under his leadership.

The Forum urged the Tourism Department to continue and expand tourism promotion events across different parts of India as well as in South East Asian countries, noting that such initiatives have played a significant role in improving Kashmir’s visibility and aiding the revival of tourism as a global destination.

Emphasising the importance of industry engagement, the Forum’s President requested that Familiarisation (FAM) tours and participation in major national and international travel marts be made an integral part of the department’s promotional strategy. Responding positively, the Director Tourism approved the organisation of FAM tours for leading travel agents from across the country, acknowledging their crucial role in promoting Kashmir as a preferred tourist destination.

The meeting also featured detailed discussions on the renewal of tourism registrations. The Forum highlighted the need for a smooth, transparent and time-bound renewal process to ensure ease of doing business and uninterrupted services for tourists.

Those present at the meeting included Forum President Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya, Senior Vice President Gowher Maqbool, General Secretary Wahid Malik, Joint General Secretary Manzoor Pakhtoon, and President, CCIK, Tariq Ghani.

The Forum appreciated the positive and receptive approach of the Director Tourism, Kashmir and expressed hope for continued cooperation and coordination between the department and stakeholders to ensure the sustainable growth of tourism and allied businesses in Jammu and Kashmir.
