Srinagar: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) J&K Education and Skill Development Panels organised a three-day financial literacy workshop in Srinagar, bringing together students from multiple districts to build essential financial and market-oriented skills. The programme was held in collaboration with KM Technical and Training Management Institute (KMTTMI), Salvatore International School, and SSM College of Engineering, with the Private Schools Association of J&K serving as a knowledge partner.

Hosted at KMTTMI on M.A. Road, the workshop is part of CII J&K’s continuing efforts to bridge the gap between industry and academia and to promote skill development among the region’s youth. Director of Education Naseer Ahmad Wani delivered the keynote address, stressing the importance of early financial awareness. “Empowering our students with practical financial skills is crucial for their personal and professional development,” he said, adding that students must also learn to earn money ethically and understand the value of integrity in financial decision-making.

CII J&K Vice Chairman Iqram Ali Shafiee, who attended as a special guest, acknowledged the contributions of organisers and facilitators, noting that the initiative reflects CII’s commitment to strengthening skill development and education. Representatives of the Private Schools Association, including interim President Baba Nazrul Islam and executive members Tahir Ahmad and Majid Bhat, were also present.

CII members involved in the programme included Ufair Ajaz Kitab, Convener of the CII J&K Skills Development Panel, along with Ridha Rashid and Ausman Qayoom. Schools that participated in the workshop included Oxford Presentation School (Anantnag), Green Valley Educational Institute (Ellahi Bagh, Srinagar), Millennium International School (Srinagar), Life School Charari Sharief (Budgam), and Salvatore International School (Bandipora).

Financial literacy sessions were conducted by trainer Dr. Ajaz Mistree, who led students through interactive modules on budgeting, saving, investing and entrepreneurship. The workshop aimed to build confidence and awareness among young learners, while supporting CII J&K’s broader objective of nurturing a skilled and future-ready workforce.
