As passengers get stranded, CAIT Kashmir condemns IndiGo flight cancellations

Srinagar: The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) Kashmir Chapter has expressed strong concern over the sudden cancellation of multiple IndiGo flights, which left hundreds of passengers stranded at airports across the country. The organisation highlighted that Kashmir, which relies heavily on air travel as its primary connectivity link, was disproportionately affected.

CAIT Kashmir noted that the cancellations caused significant hardship for traders, many of whom missed crucial business meetings and procurement visits. Students traveling for exams, admissions, and internships, as well as patients seeking medical consultations and treatments outside the Union Territory, were also severely impacted.

Describing the situation as “unacceptable and insensitive,” the Chapter criticized the lack of communication, inadequate assistance, and absence of alternative arrangements provided by IndiGo staff.

Backing the intervention of CAIT Secretary General and Member of Parliament Praveen Khandelwal, the Kashmir Chapter demanded a full inquiry into the incident, mandatory compensation for affected passengers, and stronger accountability measures for airlines from the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

“Air travel is Kashmir’s lifeline, and such mismanagement cannot be tolerated,” the statement added.
