New Delhi: In a major administrative move, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has limited the delegated powers of the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh and other key officials to approve projects and schemes.
Under the new directive, the Lieutenant Governor will no longer have the authority to approve schemes and projects above Rs 100 crore, while Administrative Secretaries would have powers to sanction projects up to Rs 20 crore.
Similarly, Chief Engineers, Heads of Departments—including Deputy Commissioners—and Superintending Engineers will be able to exercise delegated powers for individual works ranging from Rs 3 crore to Rs 10 crore.
All approvals for these projects and schemes over Rs 100 crore will now be directly exercised by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
