Srinagar: A total of 631 non-resident individuals have purchased 386 kanals of land worth nearly ₹129.97 crore across Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019, the government informed the J&K Legislative Assembly in response to Question No. 286.
According to official data tabled in the Assembly, 253 land buyers from outside J&K purchased 173 kanals and 7 marlas of land in Kashmir Division, with a total transaction value of ₹39.49 crore.
In the Jammu Division, 378 non-resident buyers purchased 212 kanals and 13 marlas of land, valued at ₹90.48 crore.
Overall, between August 2019 and October 2025, non-resident individuals collectively bought 386 kanals of land across the Union Territory.
The figures mark the first official disclosure in the Assembly on the extent of land purchases by outsiders following the constitutional changes that allowed non-residents to buy immovable property in J&K.
