“I cannot be put under pressure”: CM Omar on demands of making Reservation report public

Ziraat Times Team Report

Srinagar: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday ruled out the immediate release of the Cabinet Sub-Committee report on Reservation, saying it cannot be made public before it is formally submitted to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Abdullah said the report would be made available only after due process was followed. His remarks came amid mounting demands from open merit students urging the government to release the report by tomorrow.

“We can’t make the Cabinet Sub-Committee report public before the Cabinet sends it to the LG. I am the last person to be put under pressure. I don’t come under pressure,” the Chief Minister said in an apparent rebuke to the calls for early disclosure.

An visibly irate Omar Abdullah reiterated that the government would not be rushed into decisions under public pressure, emphasizing that the process would be conducted as per established procedure.

The Cabinet Sub-Committee was constituted to review the reservation policy in Jammu and Kashmir to make it more equitable and just. The report’s findings have generated widespread anticipation among students and community representatives across the Union Territory.
