Srinagar: The Committee on Subordinate Legislation of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Wednesday reviewed the rules and regulations framed by the Revenue Department, with a strong emphasis on digitization of records and ensuring fair compensation in land-related matters.
The meeting, held at the Assembly Complex in Srinagar, was chaired by Committee Chairman Hasnain Masoodi and attended by members Reyaz Ahmad Khan, Shabir Ahmad Kullay, Hilal Akbar Lone, Satish Kumar Sharma, and Dr. Rameshwar Singh.
During the discussions, the Committee examined issues related to digitization of revenue records, mutations, and settlements. Members underlined the need for easy access and seamless disposal of services across government offices for the benefit of citizens.
A detailed review was also carried out of the rules, sub-rules, regulations, and bye-laws of the Revenue Department. The panel deliberated on matters concerning land compensation, rehabilitation of affected persons, and the process of mutations.
Chairman Masoodi highlighted the significance of land laws in ensuring justice and equity, reiterating the Committee’s commitment to safeguarding public welfare. “It is vital that our legislation reflects fairness and accountability, and that every citizen feels protected under the law,” he said.
Members shared their recommendations and raised issues within the Committee’s mandate, reaffirming their resolve to uphold transparency and accountability in subordinate legislation.
