PHDCCI, SIDBI, AH Dept conclude 3-day poultry entrepreneurship training

Bandipora: In a collaborative effort to promote sustainable livelihoods and empower local youth, the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry-Kashmir (PHDCCI), in partnership with the Department of Animal Husbandry, Bandipora, and supported by the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), successfully concluded a three-day training program on Poultry Entrepreneurship in Bandipora.

This marked the second edition of the initiative, following a similar program held earlier in Kupwara. The training aimed to equip educated but unemployed youth with practical skills and scientific knowledge in poultry farming, encouraging them to view it as a viable and sustainable business venture.

The valedictory function was presided over by Dr. Sheikh Muhammad Younis, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Bandipora. Participants were awarded certificates for completing the program and demonstrating commitment to modern poultry techniques.

The training featured interactive sessions conducted by subject-matter experts and industry professionals, including:

Topics covered during the training included breed selection, feed and nutrition management, disease control and biosecurity, market linkages, government schemes, and financial assistance for poultry entrepreneurs.

The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from local youth, reflecting growing interest in poultry farming as a source of income and self-reliance.

Organisers said the program is part of a broader strategy to bridge knowledge gaps, facilitate access to markets, and promote agri-based entrepreneurship across Jammu & Kashmir. The third edition of the training is set to take place in Ganderbal district.
