Budgam: Sakshi Sharma, a J&K Police Service (JKPS) officer, has assumed charge as the new Station House Officer (SHO) of the historic town of Charar-e-Sharief in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Meanwhile, Owais Geelani, after his distinguished stint in Chrari Sharief, has taken over the the new Station House Officer (SHO) of Baramulla.
He was accorded a warm send-off by his colleagues, civil society members of Chrar Sharief, hailing his professional dedication and people-centric services in the area during his posting there. Several local trade, farming and tourist stakeholders said his services would lomg remembered in the area.
DySP Ms Sharma took charge at the Charar-e-Sharief Police Station earlier this week. Her and other appointments are part of the recent reshuffle in the Jammu & Kashmir Police to further enhance policing efficiency and public service delivery in the region.
Local residents and civil society members of Charar-e-Sharief have welcomed her posting, expressing hope that her leadership will strengthen the legacy left by her predecessors in public outreach, law enforcement and community engagement in the area. Charar-e-Sharief, a spiritually significant town of Kashmir, housing the revered shrine of Sheikh Noor-ud-din Noorani (RA), draws thousands of visitors and pilgrims annually.
