AIP State Secretary Sheikh Ashiq Condemns Pahalgam Tourist Attack, Calls it Deeply Disturbing and Unacceptable

Srinagar: Sheikh Ashiq, State Secretary of the Awami Ittihad Party, has strongly condemned the recent attack on tourists in Pahalgam, calling the incident “deeply disturbing” and a “direct assault on innocent lives and the spirit of Kashmiriyat.”

In a brief but emotional statement, Sheikh Ashiq said, “The attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, is a deeply disturbing incident that has caused immense fear and harm to innocent people. Such acts of violence are unacceptable and condemnable, regardless of the perpetrator or their motives.”

He expressed his heartfelt sympathies to the victims and their families, stating that his thoughts are with them during this painful time. “There can be no justification for targeting people who have come here in peace. This goes against every value our society holds dear,” he added.

The attack, which has sparked outrage across political and civil society circles, is being seen as an attempt to destabilize the region’s fragile peace and damage its thriving tourism sector — a cornerstone of livelihood for many locals.
