Jammu Smart City hikes bus fares by 7% from April 1

Jammu: Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) has announced a 7% increase in bus fares, effective April 1, 2025, to accommodate rising operational costs and ensure continued efficiency in public transport services. The revised fare structure will apply to routes across Jammu city and neighboring areas, including Kathua, Katra, and Udhampur.

According to JSCL, the fare revision follows directions from the Finance Department and is based on updated bus operation costs while maintaining high service standards.

Additionally, in line with the Chief Minister’s announcement, JSCL is working on implementing free rides for women on eBuses. The department stated that further details and operational guidelines regarding this initiative will be shared soon, a statement received by Ziraat Times said.

JSCL reiterated its commitment to providing comfortable, affordable, and reliable public transport for residents and commuters across the region. The revised fares aim to balance service quality while addressing financial sustainability in public transport operations, it said.
