Srinagar: National Conference Member of Parliament (MP) Ruhullah Mehdi has expressed strong reservations over an official reply stating that “no specific timeline has been fixed for submitting the report” on a student-related issue. Taking to social media platform X, Mehdi urged Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister’s Office (@CM_JnK) to clarify whether this statement was a clerical mistake or a miscommunication between the concerned department and the CM’s office.
“If it is not, then it is a blatant lie and betrayal of the students who placed their trust in the elected government,” Mehdi stated. He emphasized that such actions, if intentional, would amount to a major political failure.
Mehdi revealed that he had refrained from commenting on the issue after students received an assurance from the Chief Minister, expecting the government to act within the promised timeframe. However, the latest response, contradicting the earlier assurance, has left him “shocked.”
Declaring his intent to pursue the matter vigorously, the MP asserted, “I will not sit quiet on this. I will pick the matter from where I left it after the assurance given to the students.” He urged the government to provide clarity and confirm whether the response was an error or a deliberate misrepresentation.
The statement has sparked reactions from various quarters, with students and political observers awaiting a formal response from the government on the issue.
