Kashmir likely to have snowfall this Thursday. Area-wise ZT outlook is here.

Srinagar: Most parts of Jammu & Kashmir are likely to receive heavy to moderate snowfall and rainfall on Thursday, 20th February, starting Wednesday night, due to a western disturbance cloud system likely to pass over J&K.

Analysis of multiple data by Ziraat Times suggests that the main snowfall and rainfall activity in the plains is likely to start late Wednesday night and would continue on  Thursday the whole day.

Wednesday night, 19 February – Snowfall would likely occur in the Outer Himalayas, Pipanjal and upper Karewa areas across Kashmir valley, parts of Jammu and Ladakh.

Thursday, 20th February – Snowfall on Thursday is likely in Kashmir valley plains, Karewa belts and mountains. Upper Chenab valley and Poonch-Rajouri areas would also receive snowfall. Snowfall is also likely in most of the south Kashmir and north Kashmir parts of Kupwara, Karnah, Bangus valley, Machil, Bandipora, Gurez, Rafiabad throughout the day.

Friday, 21st February – While the cloud system will largely move away and weaken, some precipitation may occur in parts of outer Himalayas.

Ziraat Times’ area-wise outlook for snowfall:

North Kashmir areas of Baramulla, Rafiabad, Sopore, Bandipora, Lolab Valley, Razdan Pass, Gurez, Kupwara, Sadhna Pass are likely to receive snowfall ranging between 6 inches to 2 feet.

Central Kashmir valley plains, including Srinagar city, Zabarwan range, Dara-Harwan, Dachigam Park and Mahadev mountain areas, Tral-Shikargah areas, Ganderbal, Kangan, Sindh valley and Sonamarg are likely to receive 6 inches to 1 feet of snowfall.

The Southern parts of Kashmir valley in Anantnag, Kulgam and Shopian districts, from Verinag, Pahalgam, Kulgam, Damhal Hanjipora, Kapran, Shopian, Pir ki Gali, Bafliaz areas would receive between 6 inches to 2 feet of snow.

Pirpanjal mountain range of upper Poonch, Rajouri and karewa areas in Budgam, Pulwama, Baramulla districts along the range from Yusmarg, Gulmarg and Kandi Baramulla would receive 6 inches to 2 feet of snowfall.

Bhaderwah, Kishtwar sub regions, upper Doda, Ramban, Banihal, Sinthan Top, Margan Top and Wadwan valley would receive snowfall between 1 feet to 3 feet.

Jammu plains are likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall during this period.
