New Delhi: Jammu & Kashmir made a high visibility mark at the India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2024, held at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

Marking its 14-day run from November 14, this year’s theme, “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (One Earth, One Family, One Future), aligns with India’s G20 Presidency, celebrating inclusivity and sustainability.

J&K’s chief minister Omar Abdullah  inaugurated the J&K Day Celebration at the J&K Pavilion, which became a focal point of the event. The pavilion showcases  the state’s rich heritage, exquisite craftsmanship, and vibrant culture, resonating with the trade fair’s global theme. It drew significant attention with its display of Pashmina shawls, papier-mâché products, saffron, and authentic Kashmiri cuisine.

Those present on the occasion included Advisor to Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, Javed Ahmed Tenga, President Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Shammi Oberoi, Treasurer of National Conference, JKTPO MD Khalid Jahangir and other members of J&K’s business community.

In his address, Omar Abdullah extended a heartfelt invitation to visitors to explore Jammu and Kashmir in the summer of 2025. He emphasized the unparalleled beauty of the region, enriched by its warm hospitality and unique traditions. The pavilion also featured live performances by Kashmiri artists, adding a festive spirit to the event. Women entrepreneurs, artisans, and manufacturers from the region showcased their talents and business potential, highlighting the state’s focus on inclusive economic growth.

This year’s trade fair also celebrated India’s recent infrastructural advancements, with the fully refurbished Bharat Mandapam hosting the event. The venue underscored India’s commitment to hosting world-class events while preserving cultural integrity.

The J&K Pavilion is not only attracting  visitors but is also serving as a platform for business networking. Industry associations and entrepreneurs told Ziraat Times at the venue that they had been engaging in discussions on enhancing trade and promoting local industries in national and global markets.

“These engagements  have been very productive”, said one businessman of J&K delegation.

The IITF continues until November 27.
