Congress to offer outside support to new Omar Abdullah government

Srinagar, Oct 15: Congress party has decided to offer outside support to the new Omar Abdullah-led government in Jammu & Kashmir. Ahead of the oath  taking ceremony to be held today, sources on Wednesday morning said that despite their pre-poll alliance with the National Conference (NC), Congress declined to join the government or accept a ministerial position.

As of now no specific reasons were cited for this latest Congress decision.

This decision follows NC’s victory in the recent elections, securing 42 of the 90 assembly seats, while Congress won just six. Congress leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, will attend the swearing-in ceremony.
