Yusmarg land mafia incident: FCIK and KCCI express concern

Srinagar, Federation Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Kashmir (FCIK) and Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) have expressed their concern about the growing cases of illegal land grab (Kabza mafia) in Kashmir and have urged the administration to take stringent measures to protect the legal rights of the private land owners.

In separate  statements issued to press today FCI K and KCCI expressed shock over the incident in Nagbal, Yusmarg on Sunday, August 4, in which a group of local land mafia assaulted workers of a private land owner despite a court order protecting the rights of the land owner.

FCIK said that such incidents are becoming very common across J&K with the land kabza mafia openly occupying privately owned and registered lands and intimidating the owners.

Kashmir Chamber of Commerce while expressing concern over the incident has requested the administration to take action against the culprits and set a strong precedent for those who are using strongarm tactics in undermining rule of law.

“For the sake of a positive tourism and investment climate in J&K, it is important not to let land Kabza mafias set unlawful precedents and not let them prevail”, the KCCI further said.
