KCCI Demands Fact-Finding Committee to Probe J&K’s Power Crisis

Srinagar, Oct 12: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCC&I) has expressed grave concern over the erratic power supply in the Kashmir valley, which, according to the apex business chamber, has been gravely affecting businesses and households alike. The chamber has demanded that the Lt. Governor administration appoint a fact-finding committee to investigate the issue and suggest remedial measures.

The KCC&I has pointed out that the power supply has been erratic throughout the summer and is now scarcely available. The department has announced a scheduled power supply, but this is not enough to meet the needs of the consumers, it said.

The chamber has also criticized the KPDCL for its “contradictory policies” on power supply, such as promising uninterrupted power supply after installing smart meters, but failing to deliver on its promise.

The KCC&I has also cautioned that the erratic power supply will have a devastating impact on the horticulture and CA stores sector, which has invested lacs of crores of rupees. The chamber has urged the Lt. Governor administration to intervene immediately to resolve the power crisis.

The erratic power supply in Kashmir is emerging as a serious issue that is causing hardship to businesses and households alike.
