Srinagar, Feb 16: Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kashmir (CCIK) has expressed concern over keeping J&K Waqf Board without its chairman.
In a statement to media, President CCIK Tariq Rashid Ghani said one of the main religious body has been left to fend for itself owing to ‘Government’s apathy towards the Waqf Board’, as a result the management at major shrines in the Valley are facing problems.
Ghani said it is ironic that Government is not looking at the operational and management needs of this body which is looking into the management of shrines – symbols of Kashmir’s great and rich syncretic culture and history, besides religious obligations.
Ghani appealed to LG Administration to appoint Charman to the Waqf Board so that these historic religious places don’t face official neglect.
CCIK also appealed to Chairperson, Central Waqf Development Committee, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi to intervene in the matter.
