Trade unions to hold protests over 2022 Union Budget

New Delhi, Feb 5: A meeting of the central leadership of CITU, AIKS and AIAWU was held at BTR Bhawan on 4 February 2022. The meeting reviewed the observance of the Worker-Peasant solidarity Day on 19 January 2022 and other joint calls including the ‘Day of Betrayal’ on 31 January 2022. The meeting also discussed the current situation, budget 2022-23 and the campaign and preparations for the All India General Strike on 28-29 March 2022 and rural strike.

The meeting felt the necessity to mobilise people against this anti people, deceptive budget, the increasing inequalities, alarming level of unemployment and job losses and aggravating distress and miseries for majority of the toiling populace. Since the dates of the General Strike have been advanced by one month, it must be fully utilised to gear up the campaign both independent and joint.

The meeting took the following decisions: a) Organise joint All India Protest Day on 25 February 2022 against anti people budget 2022-23 and to gear up to the General Strike. Joint protest must be organised at the local / district level. The joint demands as decided earlier and the anti people aspects of the budget need to be highlighted in the campaign. (Draft will be sent soon) b) State level joint meetings of leadership of CITU, AIKS and AIAWU must be held before 15 February 2022 to plan for the campaignas well as the joint workers-peasants campaign on strike. This must be followed by lower level joint meetings for detailed plan.
