The delegation was led by its President Farooq A Kuthoo who was accompanied by office bearers and Ex Officos, a statement issued to Ziraat Times said.
During the meeting, the SSP Traffic City sought the cooperation of tour operators in decongesting Boulevard Road by curbing wrong and illegal parking on the stretch.
Muzaffar Shah also apprised the delegation that many drivers and transporters are running their private vehicles for commercial purposes as tourist cabs.
The SSP City said traffic police is seeking the help of tour operators and transporters ‘to arrest this illegal way of ferrying tourists for sightseeing in privat cabs.’
The SSP Traffic City further said the illegal car parking on Boulevard Road is also creating lot of hassle for the free movement of commuters.
“We have fined many drivers and seized their vehicles. The tour operators should hire only tourist taxis and not private vehicles which will land into trouble both travel company and the transporter,” he said.
On the occasion, TAAK while assuring full support to traffic police, also suggested ways to arrest this illegal way of ferrying tourists.
In this regard, TAAK also propsed a meeting of tour operators and tourist taxi owners with traffic police to aware the people associated with the trade about the illegal and unfair trade practices.
At the end, TAAK President expressed his gratitude to SSP Traffic in streamlining the traffic in the city especially facilitating hassle-free movement of Travellers into city City centre Lal Chowk.
