Kishtwar: The death toll in Honzar Kishtwar flash flood has reaches six, with 26 people still reported missing.

Former Minister and PDP MLA from Kishtwar, Firdous Tak told Ziraat Times that he is deeply saddened by the incident and that he is in touch with the district authorities for rescue and relief measures in the area.

Meanwhile, Aamir Ali, Director of Disaster Management Department, said that SDRF team [responding to the disaster] has been augmented from Doda and Udhampur.

“Another SDRF team being airlifted by Air Force helicopter from Jammu.One team of NDRF and SDRF team from Srinagar kept on standby for airlifting from Srinagar. One NDRF team on way from Jammu towards Kishtwar”, Mr Aamir said.

In a social media post about the latest situation in Dachhan, Firdous Tak, wrote on Wednesday morning:

“In an unfortunate incident around 26 people were believed to be missing in Honzar area of Dachan, Kishtwar following a cloud burst incident out of which Six bodies recovered so far and rescue operation underway. 5 people were rescued in the morning. Seven houses have completely washed away. Spoke to district and divisional administration for immediate relief and rescue operation. Deputy Commissioner and SSP Kishtwar are also leaving for the spot. Among deceased so far two are from Nomdic families and three locals.”
