“Your Capital – Your Right”: Camps in Srinagar and Jammu to Settle Unclaimed Bank, Insurance, Pension Assets

Ziraat Times News Desk

Srinagar, November 13: The Union Territory Level Bankers’ Committee (UTLBC), Jammu and Kashmir, will hold two mega awareness camps in Srinagar and Jammu on November 14 (Friday) as part of the nationwide campaign “Your Money, Your Right”, launched by the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance. The initiative seeks to help citizens reclaim their unclaimed and dormant financial assets and expedite settlement of such claims through a simplified, on-the-spot process.

The Srinagar camp will be held at Community Hall, Khalifa Pora, Khanyar, starting at 11:00 a.m., and will be attended by elected representatives from Khanyar and Hazratbal. The Jammu camp will take place at Hotel Country Inn, Bahu Plaza, from 11:30 a.m., where the local Member of Parliament has been invited as the chief guest. Both programmes are being coordinated through Lead District Managers (LDMs) of Srinagar and Jammu, respectively.

During the camps, citizens will be able to verify and settle claims related to unclaimed deposits, insurance proceeds, pension dues, mutual fund units, and other financial instruments. Senior officers from banks, insurance companies, pension funds, and mutual fund institutions will assist visitors with documentation and guide them through the claim process. Verified claims will be processed and disbursed immediately on-site.

The events are expected to draw a large public response, following extensive awareness efforts through Banking Local Board Committees (BLBCs), Financial Literacy and Credit Counselling Centres (FLCCs), and local publicity campaigns. Residents have been advised to carry valid identification and supporting documents for faster claim processing.

Officials said the twin camps mark a significant step in promoting transparency, financial inclusion, and citizen-centric service delivery, ensuring that rightful owners can reclaim their dormant assets without hassle.

The nationwide drive, launched on October 1, 2025, is part of the government’s broader effort to return unclaimed funds to citizens and strengthen trust in the financial ecosystem. Citizens can also check and claim unclaimed deposits online through the RBI’s UDGAM portal or by visiting their nearest bank branch.
