SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg on Monday chaired a high-level meeting to review the proposed expansion of the Civil Enclave at Srinagar Airport and discuss the relocation of CRPF barracks currently situated near the airport premises.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Budgam Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, along with senior officials from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Airports Authority of India (AAI), and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
Airport Expansion and Connectivity Plans
Officials held detailed deliberations on the proposed road circuit linking the Ring Road, Srinagar Railway Station, and Srinagar Airport, which is expected to ease congestion and improve commuter access. The discussion also included the feasibility of developing new accommodation facilities for CRPF and CISF personnel to support airport operations.
Divisional Commissioner Garg directed officers to review the alignment of the proposed connecting road to ensure optimal connectivity with minimal land acquisition issues. He further instructed the concerned departments to identify suitable sites for the relocation of CRPF installations, in line with the safety and regulatory requirements laid down by Air Force authorities.
Deadline Set for Final Plan
Emphasizing the importance of inter-departmental coordination, Garg asked all stakeholder agencies to work in close synergy and finalize the comprehensive expansion plan by November 20. The move, he said, would significantly enhance passenger convenience and streamline access to the airport once completed.
Officials said the expansion of the Srinagar Airport’s Civil Enclave and the proposed connectivity improvements are part of a broader initiative to upgrade aviation infrastructure and improve regional connectivity in Kashmir.
