Srinagar — Jammu & Kashmir registered a 9% decline in Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenues in October 2025 compared to the same month last year, even as Ladakh posted a strong 39% growth, and India’s overall GST collections rose to ₹1,95,936 crore, a 4.6% increase year-on-year.
Official data from the Ministry of Finance received by Ziraat Times shows that J&K’s GST revenue fell from ₹608 crore in October 2024 to ₹551 crore in October 2025. Its post-settlement GST revenue for the fiscal year to date also dropped by 9%, indicating soft consumption and slower economic activity within the Union Territory.
Ladakh, on the other hand, recorded a sharp rise in October GST receipts — from ₹56 crore to ₹78 crore — supported by tourism-linked spending and improved tax compliance. Its post-settlement revenues grew marginally by 1%, reflecting a stable fiscal trend for the region.
Nationally, GST figures showed continued economic resilience and festive season demand, with October collections climbing to ₹1,95,936 crore, up from ₹1,87,346 crore in October 2024. Gross domestic GST revenue increased 2%, while GST from imports surged 12.9%, signaling strong trade activity.
Total net GST revenue for the month stood at ₹1,69,002 crore, marking 0.6% monthly and 7.1% annual growth. Refunds shot up by 39.6%, with domestic and import categories witnessing significant increases.
Among states, Karnataka (10%), Telangana (10%), and Gujarat (6%) led revenue growth. Punjab (4%), Odisha (5%), and Tamil Nadu (4%) recorded healthy expansion. However, several northern states besides J&K underperformed, including Himachal Pradesh (-17%) and Uttarakhand (-13%).
The Ministry highlighted that India’s cumulative GST revenues from October 2024 to October 2025 rose 7.8%, from ₹9,65,138 crore to ₹10,40,055 crore, demonstrating a broadening tax base and firm domestic demand.
