SRINAGAR — The local business community in Kashmir officially welcomed the Indian Heaven Premier League (IHPL) on Friday, celebrating the cricket event as a significant boost for both the region’s tourism and its aspiring young athletes.
The Chamber of Commerce & Industries Kashmir (CCIK) and the J&K Hoteliers Club (JKHC) hosted a reception for the league’s international and national cricket players at the Noor Lounge in the Radisson Srinagar.
Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya, Chairman of the J&K Hoteliers Club, hailed the organizers for choosing Srinagar as the host city. “This league will also boost tourism of Kashmir,” Chaya stated, emphasizing the economic and publicity benefits of hosting a high-profile sporting event.
CCIK President Tariq Ghani highlighted the opportunity the league presents for local talent. “It’s a great opportunity for the local players of J&K for playing with National and international players,” Ghani said. He pledged the Chamber’s continued support for such initiatives, noting that they are crucial for promoting sports and providing platforms to the valley’s youth.
“CCIK believes that J&K youth is very well talented but there is a lack of platforms,” the organization noted, underscoring the importance of events like the IHPL in bridging that gap.
The event saw all office bearers of the CCIK in attendance, and the organization extended its thanks to Khaja Amir, the owner of Noor Lounge, for hosting the high tea. Naseem Chaya also offered encouragement to the players, promising full support from Mushtaq Group of Hotels.
The reception concluded with the official launch of the IHPL logo and team jerseys.
