Srinagar: The Srinagar administration has issued a weather advisory in view of the forecast of heavy to intense showers accompanied by gusty winds across several parts of Kashmir Division, including Srinagar district, between August 31 and September 1, 2025.
According to the advisory issued by the Office of the District Magistrate Srinagar, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted spells of intense rainfall, prompting the authorities to caution residents, particularly those living near Fakir Gujri, its adjacent areas, and Khonmoh, to remain vigilant and avoid venturing into the slopes and water bodies during the inclement weather.
The administration has also advised tourists, local Shikara operators, and visitors at Dal and Nigeen lakes as well as the Sand Mining areas to suspend their activities until conditions improve. “People are strongly advised not to attempt crossing streams and rivers before verifying the condition and situation of Jhelum and its tributaries,” the advisory reads.
Citizens have been urged to stay updated and immediately report emergencies to the District Emergency Operation Centre (DEOC) Srinagar, the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS), or the Police Control Room Srinagar.
