Sopore | The oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected President of the Labour Union at Sopore Fruit Mandi was held today in the midst of the ongoing peak apple season. Sopore Fruit Mandi, one of the largest in Asia, employs a large number of workers and plays a crucial role in Kashmir’s horticulture economy.
The event was graced by MLA Sopore, Irshad Rasool Kar, who attended as the Chief Guest. Among the dignitaries present were ADC Sopore, S.A. Raina, President Fruit Mandi Sopore, Fayaz Ahmad Malik, and several senior members of the fruit growers and traders’ community.
In his address, MLA Irshad Rasool Kar congratulated the new Labour Union leadership and stressed the importance of unity and cooperation among traders, growers, and workers to strengthen Sopore’s fruit economy. He assured the gathering that all genuine issues of labourers and stakeholders would be taken up with the authorities for redressal.
He further underlined that the fruit mandi, being the backbone of north Kashmir’s economy, requires collective efforts to maintain its vibrancy and ensure continued growth of the region’s horticulture sector.
The programme concluded with renewed commitment from all sides to work together for the prosperity of fruit growers, traders, and labourers associated with the mandi.
