Sajad Lone slams J&K govt over transfer spree, calls it ‘weaponising transfers’

Srinagar: People’s Conference President and MLA Handwara, Sajad Gani Lone, has launched a scathing attack on the Jammu & Kashmir administration over what he termed as the “weaponisation” of transfers of government employees.

In a sharply worded statement posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Lone accused the elected government of punishing employees who may have voted against them in the recently held Lok Sabha elections.

The criticism comes amid reports of a flurry of transfers across departments in recent days.

“Our elected government it seems was busy waging a war against those who haven’t voted for them,” Lone alleged. He claimed that employees are being arbitrarily transferred to far-off locations as political retribution, separating them from their families and children.

Lone questioned the administration’s broader performance, listing unfulfilled promises such as statehood restoration, job creation, regularisation of daily wagers, and power subsidies.

“Did you do anything? YES. You weaponised transfers,” he wrote, adding that the government’s only show of power was targeted against Kashmiris.

“You won’t dare do it in Jammu,” he added, accusing the government of selective authoritarianism.

The PC leader also mocked the administration’s perceived subservience to central authorities, stating: “It is pathetic to see you grovellingly in attendance when your Lords descend from Delhi… and the Lords don’t even bl**** acknowledge your miserable presence.”

As of now, there has been no official response from the J&K government regarding the allegations.
