SRINAGAR: Jammu & Kashmir is making significant strides in digital governance, with over 30,000 active users now operating on the upgraded e-Office 2.0 platform. Secretary, Information Technology, Dr. Piyush Singla, chaired a high-level review meeting on Tuesday to assess the implementation and progress of key IT initiatives across departments.

A major highlight of the meeting was the success of e-Office 2.0, a flagship initiative aimed at achieving paperless governance. The platform has been rolled out across more than 480 administrative units, including departments, Head of Departments (HoDs), district commissioner offices, and major universities such as the University of Jammu, University of Kashmir, SMVDU, BGSBU, and SKUAST-Jammu. In addition, over 4,000 users have been VPN-enabled, facilitating secure and remote access to official systems.

Dr. Singla praised the IT Department’s efforts in driving this transformation and underscored the role of e-Office 2.0 in enhancing transparency, efficiency, and accountability in public service delivery. He also welcomed the department’s plan to extend the digital governance framework to the block and tehsil levels, potentially adding over 25,000 new users in the next phase.

The meeting also reviewed key initiatives under the Digital Jammu & Kashmir Mission, including:

  • Mobile Dost App, which is enhancing citizen access to services;

  • Auto-Appeal System, ensuring timely redressal of public grievances;

  • Integration of 1,212+ e-services under the e-UNNAT unified digital platform.

The Secretary lauded the department’s continuous capacity-building efforts, infrastructure upgrades, and its provision of handholding support to line departments, calling it a model of proactive digital governance. “Jammu & Kashmir is emerging as one of the leading Union Territories in e-Governance adoption,” he said.

The IT Department reiterated its commitment to strengthening the digital backbone of the administration, with a focus on last-mile service delivery, citizen-centric innovation, and responsive governance.
