HADP Review: Agriculture Dept to accelerate new measures in J&K

SRINAGAR: A high-level review meeting was convened today at the Directorate of Agriculture, Lal Mandi, Srinagar, to evaluate the progress of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) in Jammu and Kashmir. The session was chaired by Sandeep Kumar, IFS, Secretary of the Agriculture Production Department and Mission Director, HADP/JKCIP.

The meeting is part of an ongoing series of strategic assessments aimed at accelerating the pace of HADP implementation and preparing for the upcoming mid-term review by the HADP Apex Committee.

The review focused on 12 core HADP projects, with discussions centred on enhancing field-level performance, identifying bottlenecks in execution, and aligning project delivery with the UT Government’s broader vision of building a ₹1 lakh crore agri-economy in Jammu and Kashmir.

Senior officers from the Agriculture Production Department and allied sectors, including representatives from Horticulture, Sericulture, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Horticulture Planning & Marketing, and SKUASTs, attended the meeting. Also present were project management teams, project investigators (PIs), and other technical staff.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Sandeep Kumar emphasized the importance of timely execution, interdepartmental coordination, and robust monitoring systems to drive the programme forward. He appreciated the proactive efforts of the Directorate of Agriculture Kashmir and highlighted the need for farmer-centric service delivery, continuous feedback from field units, and outcome-driven implementation.

“The Government of Jammu and Kashmir is fully committed to transforming the agriculture sector into a sustainable, market-driven engine of growth. Success lies in collaboration, innovation, and accountability at every level,” he said.

The Director Agriculture Kashmir presented a detailed progress report, covering implementation milestones, project achievements, and areas where additional support is needed. He reaffirmed the department’s commitment to fulfilling HADP goals within the stipulated timelines.

The meeting concluded with an interactive session, where officers from various departments shared on-ground experiences, implementation challenges, and innovative suggestions to enhance programme delivery. The Mission Director urged all stakeholders to maintain momentum and leverage these review meetings as platforms for learning, adaptation, and strengthening the state’s agricultural ecosystem.
