Gulmarg: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Jammu and Kashmir Council successfully organized a Membership Roadshow and stakeholder interaction at the scenic Gulmarg Golf Course today, bringing together key associations and officials to discuss collaborative avenues for the region’s development.
The event witnessed strong participation from a wide spectrum of local associations, including the Pony Associations, Photographer Association, Shopkeepers Association, ATV Association, Snowmobile Association, and Sumo Association. The outreach initiative aimed to strengthen partnerships among stakeholders in Gulmarg and promote sustainable regional progress.
Farooq Ahmad Shah, MLA Gulmarg, attended as Chief Guest, while Tariq Naik, CEO of the Gulmarg Development Authority, was the Guest of Honour. Also present were Assistant Director, Department of Tourism, Tahir Wani, along with the Tehsildar and SDM Gulmarg. The dignitaries emphasized the need for coordinated efforts and meaningful stakeholder engagement to unlock Gulmarg’s tourism and economic potential.
The CII delegation was led by Iqram Ali Shafiee, Vice Chairman of CII J&K, who was joined by members Ufair Ajaz, Sajad Lone, Hussain Khan, Usman Qayoom, Sanaan Gojwari, Gagan Jain, and Khurshid Dar, Head of CII J&K. In his welcome address, Iqram Ali Shafiee highlighted CII’s commitment to fostering community partnerships and supporting the region’s stakeholders through targeted interventions.
M. A. Alim, Chairman of CII J&K Council, reiterated the organization’s intent to work closely with relevant authorities to address the concerns of local stakeholders. He announced plans for organizing skill development programs tailored to the needs of the Gulmarg community.
In their remarks, Farooq Ahmad Shah and Tariq Naik praised the initiative and welcomed CII’s involvement in improving Gulmarg’s tourism infrastructure and service quality. Tariq Naik assured full departmental cooperation for future CII-led capacity-building efforts.
A central objective of the roadshow was to collect feedback and suggestions from stakeholder groups. Representatives voiced their issues and proposals, which were received constructively by officials, who pledged to work collaboratively toward actionable solutions.
The session concluded with a shared resolve among all participants to enhance the visitor experience in Gulmarg through inclusive development and public-private cooperation.
