Amar Singh Club holds dialogue on women’s well-being in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Continuing its activities for raising awareness on urgent social issues, the Managing Committee of Amar Singh Club, Srinagar, held a focused session under its initiative Common Interest Conversations on Tuesday to discuss strategies for promoting women’s well-being, safety, and full participation in society.

The event was presided over by Prof. Yasmeen Ashai, former Director of Colleges, Jammu & Kashmir. Eminent speakers included Prof. Masooda Yaseen, former Managing Director of the Women’s Development Corporation; Dr. Muslim Jan, former Head of the Public Relations Centre, University of Kashmir; Ms. Masooda Rajpuri, former Registrar/Controller at SKIMS; and Ms. Qurat-Ul-Ain, senior lecturer (retired) from the School Education Department, among others.

During the interaction, Nasir Hamid Khan, Secretary of Amar Singh Club, presented the draft proposal of the Cashmere Cradleland initiative, which had its genesis during the Women’s Day session held on March 8, 2025. He expressed gratitude to the participants for their ongoing contributions in identifying key societal issues and recommending actionable solutions. He also acknowledged the collective efforts made in drafting a comprehensive proposal for submission to the government.

The speakers lauded the Managing Committee’s dedication to fostering socially conscious dialogue and creating a platform to deliberate on meaningful reforms.
