KCCI Welcomes India-Pakistan Ceasefire, Calls for Relief and Rehabilitation Measures

Srinagar: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has welcomed the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, describing it as a crucial step towards peace, stability, and economic revival in the region. The Chamber expressed hope that this development would alleviate the prolonged suffering of residents in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly those living in border areas.

In an official statement to Ziraat Times, KCCI acknowledged the positive leadership demonstrated by both nations and appreciated the role played by international mediators in facilitating the agreement. “The cessation of hostilities provides a rare opportunity to rebuild lives, communities, and mutual trust,” the statement read.

The Chamber extended heartfelt sympathies to the families of those who lost their lives in the recent escalation. Among them was Raj Kumar Thapa, the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) of Rajouri. “His dedication to public service will be remembered with deep respect,” the statement said.

KCCI urged the government to announce ex-gratia payments for the families of the deceased and to provide immediate medical and financial relief to the injured. It also called for a prompt and thorough assessment of the damages caused during the hostilities, including destruction of homes, infrastructure, livestock, and horticulture, especially in the vulnerable border regions.

“The impact of recent tensions has not only been human but economic,” KCCI noted. “It is vital that both public and private losses are compensated fairly and that displaced families are rehabilitated without delay.”

The Chamber emphasized the importance of restoring normalcy, safeguarding civilian lives, and resuming economic activities in the affected areas. It reaffirmed its commitment to working with government authorities and stakeholders to promote peace and long-term economic stability in Jammu and Kashmir.

With the ceasefire now in place, KCCI said the focus must shift to relief, rehabilitation, and confidence-building measures that can help heal the wounds of recent conflict.
