SRINAGAR: J&K Bank has issued a reminder notification to farmers inĀ Jammu & Kashmir regarding the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for the Kharif 2025 season, urging them to complete their enrollment or opt-out process before the notified deadlines.
The PMFBY is a government-backed crop insurance scheme that provides financial protection to farmers in case of crop loss due to natural calamities, pests, or diseases. For the upcoming Kharif season, the insurance premium for farmers has been fixed at a rate of 2% of the sum insured for notified crops such as paddy and maize.
According to the circular released by J&K Bank, the last date for enrollment under the scheme is July 31, 2025, while the last date to opt out is July 24, 2025.
The bank has specifically advised farmers availing the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) loan facility to take note of these dates. āFarmers who do not wish to be covered under the PMFBY must submit an ‘opt-out’ declaration on or before July 24, 2025. If the declaration is not submitted in time, the farmer will be automatically enrolled in the scheme for the Kharif 2025 season,ā the notice states.
