CAIT Kashmir Meets MP and CAIT Gen Secty to Push for ‘Trade Revival, Business Reforms’ in J&K

New Delhi: In a bid to rejuvenate the trade landscape of Jammu & Kashmir, a delegation from the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) Kashmir Chapter met today with CAIT National General Secretary and Member of Parliament Praveen Khandelwal in New Delhi. The delegation was led by Peer Imtiaz, General Secretary of CAIT Kashmir.

According to a statement issued to Ziraat Times, the meeting focused on the urgent need for trade revival, streamlining of regulatory processes, and strengthening the ease of doing business in the Union Territory. Key issues discussed included infrastructure limitations, policy hurdles, and the necessity for better coordination between traders and government departments.

Farhan Kitab, President of CAIT Kashmir, emphasized the need for collaborative action. “Reviving general trade in Kashmir is our topmost priority. We are engaging actively with retailers, wholesalers, and other stakeholders to identify challenges and push for quick resolutions through government channels,” he said.

Praveen Khandelwal expressed solidarity with the business community in Kashmir and assured full support in taking their concerns to the central government. He also underscored the importance of aligning Kashmir’s trade sector with national economic and digital initiatives to ensure inclusive and sustainable growth.

As a follow-up, CAIT Kashmir announced plans to launch a series of structured consultations across the Valley. These will involve market associations, traders’ unions, and local business leaders to develop a comprehensive roadmap tailored to regional needs.

The Kashmir Chapter of CAIT reiterated its commitment to act as a strong bridge between the local trading community and national policymakers, in alignment with the vision of Viksit Bharat (Developed India).
