Travel Agents Association of Kashmir holds emergency meet, calls for unity, compassion after Pahalgam tragedy

Srinagar: In response to the recent tragic attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of several tourists, the Travel Agents Association of Kashmir (TAAK) held an emergency meeting today to express solidarity with the victims and address the fallout on the region’s tourism industry.

At the outset, members of the association observed a two-minute silence in memory of those killed in the incident and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.

Expressing deep concern over the immediate impact on tourism, the TAAK Executive Committee noted a noticeable rise in cancellations from travellers who had planned visits to the Valley. The association called for a unified and compassionate approach from all stakeholders to help rebuild confidence among tourists.

In a significant appeal to its fraternity, TAAK urged hoteliers and houseboat owners to facilitate smooth and hassle-free cancellations for affected tourists. The association emphasized that such gestures are essential for preserving Kashmir’s long-standing reputation as a hospitable and welcoming destination.

TAAK reaffirmed its commitment to work collectively with all stakeholders to not only recover from the current setback but also to ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of tourism in Jammu & Kashmir.
