Kashmir Fruit Growers Union Condemns Pahalgam Terror Attack, Calls It ‘Assault on Humanity’

Srinagar: The Kashmir Valley Fruit Growers Cum Dealers Union, along with the New Kashmir Fruit Association based at the Fruit Marketing Complex in Parimpora, has strongly condemned today’s terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, calling it a “cowardly act” and a direct assault on Kashmir’s ethos of hospitality and peace.

In a joint statement issued to Ziraat Times on Monday, the umbrella body representing fruit growers across the Valley and the members of the New Kashmir Fruit Association expressed deep sorrow over the attack, which claimed multiple lives and left several others injured. The groups called the violence “unacceptable” and “against the soul of Kashmir,” a region known for welcoming tourists with warmth and affection.

“This is not just an attack on tourists—it is an attack on humanity,” the statement read.

The union, led by Chairman Bashir Ahmad Basheer, and the association’s members extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery to those injured. They urged authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.

“Targeting innocent tourists is an act of cowardice and the worst form of terrorism,” said Basheer. “Kashmiris have always opened their hearts to visitors. Such incidents are deeply concerning and must not be allowed to damage the image and spirit of the Valley.”
